However it has moved up the road a little bit to the car park of Tottenham Chances Arts & Music centre.

Tottenham Green Market promises to offer “the best in local eating, drinking and shopping. Visitors can buy delicious fresh bread, cakes, charcuterie, jams, chutneys and cheeses – all made in the neighbourhood – plus rare breed beef, lamb and pork and seasonal vegetables from slightly further afield.

512px-Flickr_-_cyclonebill_-_Caffe_latte,_bolle_og_manchego

Presented by Craving Coffee & tottenhamlife.co.uk with ticket proceeds to The Markfield Project and including Meet the Brewer from Redemption Brewery, the TEAM TOTTENHAM PARTY looks like an event well worth supporting.

It takes place this Thursday evening at the cosy Craving Coffee – who have been making quite a stir locally with their themed events. The coffee’s not bad either!

The organisers describe what’s behind the night:

“We love Tottenham and its passionate community spirit. We want to celebrate it with a Team Tottenham party in our cafe, at The Mill Co. Project.

We’ll have our good friends from Redemption Brewery as guests for Meet the Brewer, with a chance to learn more about and samples their beers...

Crossrail 2 consultation results in all options open

crossrail2-tottenhamHale

The results of the Crossrail 2 consultation have been published with opinion split on its Hackney route and concern over any possible tunnel entrance on Walthamstow Marshes being raised by several respondents. The option of the tunnels emerging north of Tottenham Hale was also raised by some.

As a reminder, the consultation states:
[The plans involve a] tunnel portal to the south of Tottenham Hale, although the exact location has yet to be determined. Further engineering feasibility work is being carried out to review options for the tunnel portal and the impact this would have on the area required.

A 2013 engineering feasibility study had placed this portal at Copper Mill Junction on Walthamstow Marshes. A detailed analysis of this and other possibilities is in our previous post, Crossra...

St Ann’s Hospital sell off latest

St_Ann's_Hospital

News via ourtottenham on a meeting this week regarding the plans to sell off much of St Ann’s Hospital for housing.

“On 20th June Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust (BEHMHT) submitted the outline planning application for the St Ann’s Hospital site. This proposes to sell off two thirds of the hospital site for housing.

“BEHMHT claim that the hospital grounds are ‘surplus to requirements’ and ‘unaffordable’ yet they have failed to undertake a healthcare needs assessment … to demonstrate how the so called ‘modern health care campus’, NOT a hospital, will meet our needs now and in the forseeable future.

“This is our hospital, it is NHS land that belongs to us, they cannot be allowed to sell the site without demonstrating how our health will benefit. No Sell Off Without a Health Check!

“Residents and HaNSAH [Haringey Needs St Ann's Hospital] have con...

Bradley_Wiggins_2010_TdF_Stage_8

The Tour de France is coming to London next Monday (7 July) with the route including part of the Lea Bridge Road, a modest walk from South Tottenham.

The world’s most famous cycle race is primarily held in France, but this year includes some UK stages. Monday’s part of the race sees competitors cycling from Cambridge through Essex and then on to north, east and central London before finishing on The Mall.

This excellent interactive map of the whole day’s route also shows crucial details such as elevations. Last year’s winner Chris Froome is part of a multinational squad in “Team Sky”, although Bradley Wiggins did not make the cut.

Tour de France Lee Valley mapThe nearest point of the Tour de France to South Tottenham is a roughly 40 minute stroll down the River Lee and across Walthamstow Marshes.

The racers will come...
